The Falcon’s Eye is the production arm of the Department of Theatre and Cinema at Folsom Lake College. Falcon’s Eye produced its first season of plays in 2007, and has been offering multiple productions each year ever since. We love to create provocative Theatre that looks into what it means to be alive and how we manage to live together.
Our mission is to provide you with insightful theatre that brings new perspectives to your life and to your experiences through fascinating, thought-provoking storytelling that challenges your expectations. We travel through time and around the world to bring the community and students a diversity of styles and voices that are sure to amaze and enrich audiences for a lifetime.
My experience was some years ago, but I really enjoyed working with this theater. The audition process feels organized and professional. You go into a separate room to sing for the audition panel so you never have to feel judged by other auditoners. Monologues are also done privately. Only the dancing happens in groups which I think is perfectly fine. One star off on the audition process due to another show I auditioned for here. That time the release of the cast list was delayed by multiple days from what was originally promised, and those cast were pressured to accept or decline very quickly to offset a delay that was not their fault. That seemed a little unfair. You took your time, allow us performers ours! It’s not always an easy decision.
This is a community college theater but anyone can audition. From what I remember upon casting & accepting we were asked to enroll in the “class” of doing the show which cost a small amount of money. I don’t remember the exact amount, but it was very inexpensive and for luxuries like excellent rehearsal / performance space, having every cast member mic’d during the show, and not having to help build the set at all, it did not bother me in the least.
The rehearsal process was wonderful. They really took the time to make sure everyone in the cast had a full understanding of the time period and context of the show, even bringing in a dramaturg which was a first for me. It was also the first time I’ve had a rehearsal process with stage managers present throughout to call for break times and keep everything on schedule. Truly one of the most professional theater environments I’ve ever experienced. I always keep an eye out for their auditions and would be more than happy to work with Falcon’s Eye again!
